After graduating as a Clinical Dietitian and with a BSc in Physiology and Genetics from the University of Pretoria, she worked in community service in a small town hospital in Mpumalanga, where she realised how much she loved working with children.

Amanda moved to Cape Town to embark in private paediatric healthcare and worked for Kath Megaw for 5 years. In 2018 she started her own practice. She currently has 9 years experience in clinical paediatric nutrition.

Amanda’s area of expertise lies in ketogenic therapies for neurological disorders, and has travelled through Africa training medical teams on implementation of these diets. She has a special place in her heart for premies, cardiac defects, neurological disorders, feeding disorders and special needs.

Amanda loves working with teenagers and is passionate about eating disorder prevention and treatment. Amanda is a proponent of Health at Every Size (HAES) and is dedicated to supporting children and teenagers to achieve well-being and positive body image, rather than weight control. She believes that intuitive and mindful eating are the keys to long term health, rather than diets and meal plans.

Amanda holds talks and workshops throughout Cape Town, and has presented at conferences and seminars on paediatric nutrition and the ketogenic diet. She writes articles for childcare magazines and websites, and sits on the advisory board for Nutripaeds.

Amanda is mama to magical Maxie who was born in 2020. Despite Amanda's training and experience, Maxie remains her biggest teacher. Amanda loves yoga, running, and hiking with her hubby, as well as making a mess of craft projects in her spare time.
