Amanda Ferreira RD(SA)

Amanda is a clinical dietitian practicing exclusively with babies, children and teens. She has over 10 years experience working in clinical paediatric nutrition, including Paediatric ICU,  Neonatal ICU, and consulting families on an outpatient basis.

Amanda’s area of expertise lies in ketogenic therapies for neurological disorders, and has travelled through Africa training medical teams on implementation of these diets. She has a special place in her heart for premies, cardiac defects, neurological disorders, feeding disorders and special needs.

Amanda loves working with teenagers and is passionate about eating disorder prevention and treatment. Amanda is a proponent of Health at Every Size (HAES) and is dedicated to supporting children and teenagers to achieve well-being and positive body image, rather than weight control. She believes that intuitive and mindful eating are the keys to long term health, rather than diets and meal plans.

As well as being a registered dietitian, Amanda has a BSc in Physiology, Genetics and Psychology. She is SOS Feeding accredited and is currently studying to become a lactation consultant and completing a 1-year program in Eating Disorder Treatment.

Amanda holds talks and workshops throughout Cape Town, and has presented at conferences and seminars on paediatric nutrition and the ketogenic diet.

Amanda is mama to magical Maxie and Frankie. Despite Amanda's training and experience, her daughters remain her biggest teacher. Amanda loves yoga, running, and hiking with her hubby Marnus, as well as making a mess of craft projects in her spare time.
